Reinstallation

I'm looking to re-install the software on my server to make it a domain controller. I was hoping some one could give me a few tips in best practrise's, as i came in to the job after everything had been setup with this being my first job im still very in experinced using the compaq hardware and the windows 2000 as a server based piece of software.
Any advise would be most greatfull
