Remote Console ILO unavailable

Hello
When I try to access the ILO Remote Console
on some servers I sometimes get the message "Remote Console is unavailable. It is already in use by a different client". But there is no other client connected to the ILO on that server. How can I "reset" the Remote Console connection (from remote) to access the server through the ILO again?

regards

Re: Remote Console ILO unavailable

Hi,

there is an option to qcquire the session and end the "existing" one...

Check :

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00209014/c00209014.pdf

page 78.. you must enable the acquire option and then when you connect above on the left there will be a button "Acquire" and you will be able to use it...This applies to ilo2 too...

Re: Remote Console ILO unavailable

As others have said you can use configure iLO to use the aquire button, or go into the diagnostics screen and click the button to reset the iLO.

Re: Remote Console ILO unavailable

hi

just try this:
- go to network settings and click button Apply
you don't need to do any change in network settings ilo is going to reset itself when you click in that button

or
- update ilo to the latest firmware I don't know which ilo you have:
ilo: latest firmware 1.91
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=397989&swItem=MTX-01e3d5a15d7f4243933fb7550d&prodNameId=397991&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=3

ilo 2:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=1146658&prodNameId=1135772&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-9f76e0c15d0a4d28825b80df03

in case you already have the latest version try re-flashing ilo again

using one of those methods you're going to reset your ilo and get the remote console.

in that way you can get remote console again

let us know results

hi

" Maybe its just me but knowbody asked if you had an IP address set on the interface? Start with the basics!!!!"

because in order to open a Remote Console session you must first open ilo browser(internet explorer) and that requires a previous IP or DNS name, so I think that's why no body has mentioned check if there is an IP... basics uh?

Re: Remote Console ILO unavailable

Thank you Karlo
I had problems with accessing the remote console on an old iLO board, because another user held the connection.
There is no "Aquire button" on this iLO version, but I used your description and "bumped" the user by simply going to "Network setting -> Apply"

... no changes to settings ... just applying the current config ...

It breaks all connections and since I was the one first logging back in again - I got the console...
If there's several administrators - please make sure to communicate internally instead of bumping each other :-)
