Replacing harddrives in a logical drive, ML370 G4

Hi!

I Want to add more space to a logical drive, it's a raid 5 with 3x76GB HD's for a total of 146GB, I have 3x146GB new hotplug drives that I want to replace them with, would adding them as hot spares and then removing the old ones one by one after the array is synced work? or is it better to swap them one at a time and wait for resync? the controller is a Smart aray 641 w 128MB BBWC.

The logical drive has 2 ntfs partitions with 2003 server as OS, one boot and one with data. If im not mistaken I can use microsoft diskpart to extend the data partition to use the new space on the logical drive right?

Regards.
/Jonas

I suggest this :

put 3 new drive in server, create new logical drive

Ghost from the old volume to the new one and ajust partition size as needed.

Pull old drive, ajust smartarray to boot from this new logical drive and reboot

Good luck

Your suggestion worked like a charm, allthough Im not sure Symantec would support that solution, didnt even have to change anything in the controller settings, just pulled the drives and marked them as failed during controller post and then it booted on the other logical drive.
