Required Distance from Breaker Box

Is there a specified distance that a proliant server should be kept from a breaker box or wall outlet? I was told by someone in my company that keeping the server cabinet less than a couple of feet from the box would ruin the hard drive. Is this true?

Re: Required Distance from Breaker Box

Hi,

What we follow that there should be a gap of 36 inches. Where as depends upon different companies what policies they follow. Yes it can affect the Hdd, that what my perception is.

Re: Required Distance from Breaker Box

Do you know how it could affect the server? Because it seems to me that a circuit breaker works the same way as a basic surge protector. It flips when the amps of a circuit pull more than they're supposed to.

Re: Required Distance from Breaker Box

Hi,

Even i follow guidlines on same. But when we refer to circuit breaker i think it is different then breaker box.

Circuit Breaker:
A device that automatically interrupts the flow of an electrical current.

Breaker Box:
An insulated box on which interconnected circuits are mounted.
Even i am not too good in this stuff
