Reset DL380 G4 BIOS, etc to factory defaults.

Hello,

I am new to the HP Proliant DL380 and was wondering if there is a simple way to reset the BIOS, lights out manager and array controller settings back to their factory defaults ?

Thanks,

Tony.

Re: Reset DL380 G4 BIOS, etc to factory defaults.

Hi Tony,

You could try clearing NVRAM either from RBSU or from the Maintenance switch on the system board.

Boot from the Firmware Maintenance CD 7.60 and update all firmwares.

You could download the firmware maintenance CD from here:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24819.html

Otherwise, you could try locating the CMOS battery and remove/disconnect it. Wait a few minutes then put it back in, then power up the server and see what happens.

Hope this answers!!!!!

Re: Reset DL380 G4 BIOS, etc to factory defaults.

Hello Tony,

Boot from the Smart Start CD, and Run the System Erase Utility.

This utility will enable the user to erase CMOS Factory Time/Date, CMOS checksum, EISA NVRAM (including environment variables), partitions on all hard drives, and the SMART Array controller configuration.

More info on:
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/smartstart/benefits.html

Download the latest Smart Start CD:

Re: Reset DL380 G4 BIOS, etc to factory defaults.

I just replaced the motherboard in my dl380 g4 and when I power it on I get "805 - unsupported processor detected"

I tried to boot from USB and cd and dvd but can't. Does anyone know how I can get this server to boot up. I downloaded the ROMPAQ utility from hp's website but to no avail. It seems as though the server does not even look for the usb or cd or dvd to boot from.
