Hi.
We have an HP DL380 G7, an existing drive cage with 8 x SAS disks and a P410i embedded RAID controller (512MB). We are installing a second drive cage with another 4 x SAS disks and using an HP 24 Bay 3Gb SAS Expander Card to facilitate this.
As both drive cages will now be cabled through the SAS Expander Card, I just wanted to be sure that the existing Server data held on the 8 x SAS disks will remain intact and the disk configurations won't get overwritten etc?
Thanks.
D

Re: Retain existing data with HP 24 Bay 3Gb SAS Expander Card?
I'd by the way install another P410/1gb FBWC and directly wire that to the second chassis and use two volumes. the performance would be far greater this way!

Yes.. that is correct.
David Dimbleby, if in case you need the part number for P410/1G FBWC complete kit .. here it is:
572532-B21 - HP Smart Array P410/1G FBWC 2-ports Int PCIe x8 SAS Controller

Excellent - No longer happy with the SAS Expander Card option and ordering the RAID as we speak! Thanks
