Rompaq Downgrades
Hi !
We have a specified environment and our customer want all RomPaq's have the same version. Now we had several hardware replacements and some BIOS versions of replaced devices are older and an update was successful without problems. But with some newer BIOS Versions (Smart 3200 controllers) we can not downgrade to the desired version. The Rompaq update utility only says "the version on disk is not newer than the installed version". Is a downgrade impossible or are there any workarounds to do it anyway

Re: Rompaq Downgrades
This is normally not recommended. To downgrade firmware on the 3200:
Open Config.sys, add the /x switch to the end of the line "shell=", save the file and this should allow the firmware to be backreved.

The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
