Running Windows XP on DL360 G3

I have a need for a few 1 RU boxes for a specific application that requires Windows XP. I have access to some DL360 G3's however HP do not supply xp drivers for them. Has anyone successfully run XP on DL360 G3's ?

Perhaps you could use a Windows 2003 installation, install Microsoft's free Virtual Server software, then create the boxes that way?

Hi,

It can be done using the Windows 2000 drivers for anything that's missing in device manager. You can even load the health driver and keep the fans quiet.

See previous replies for a DL360 G2.

Hi,

I meant to add that you will need to load the Smart Array 5i driver manually using F6 to load XP and see any logical drives. Create the arrays first using the ORCA setup (F8 at POST on the 5i) then build XP.

XP will find quite a lot of the hardware but things like the ILO will have a yellow bang against them in the device manager. Use the 2000 drivers for anything like this. You will get messages to say that the drivers are unsigned etc. but you can ignore this.

You can get all of the required Windows 2000 drivers from here.

Windows XP is not supported on Proliant Server, instead of using this OS, use windows 2000 or 2003!!
