SA P400/256 in DL380 G5 (HDD positions)
Hello!
Is there any suggestions about HDD placement in described configuration?
I mean, can I just place four drives in slots 1,2,3,4. Or maybe I should place them in 1&5, 2&6 for better perfomance?
Any comments?

Re: SA P400/256 in DL380 G5 (HDD positions)
Hi,
As each channel (connector) on the P400 controls 4 ports, there would be a benefit in mirroring the drives (Raid 1+0) across the two channels 1+5, 2+6 etc. as this would allow for complete failure of one channe, giving you some redundancy.
When it comes to raid 5 however this would not be as beneficial since loss of more than one drive would fail the raid set.
In the older SCSI configurations it was generally considered to be beneficial from a performance view to create raidsets across the channels, so I assume SAS/SATA would be the same.
I could be wrong.
Regards,
Brian
