SA-P800, ADU will not configured device : The cache is permanently disabled ? ( can it be fixed)

Hello

We replaced a P400 card in a DL 320s G1 with a Smart Array P800 inorder to expand storage with a MSA 70.

When I access the ACU utility  the following error appears :

351 Smart Array P800 in Slot 2 CACHE STATUS PROBLEM DETECTED: The cache on this controller has a problem. To prevent data loss, configuration changes to this controller are not allowed. Please replace the cache to be able to continue to configure this controller.

The ADU diag report has the following to say about the cache.

But in the ADU report the slot2.txt has
the following :

I've attached the full diag report.

We purchased this controller from ebay so it might be defective, before I purchsae a new one I'd like to know if the cache module is realy defective and can it be replaced ?

I have not removed the card from the server yet and when we installed it I did not recall seeing any removal parts other than the two battery modules.

Thank you for thoughts

Naim

hi,

Error Report Smart Array P800 in slot 2 → Smart Array P800 in slot 2 The cache is permanently disabled

Soo.. the cache module is most probably defective, but the issue can be also with the controller. You can try to reseat the cache first before ordering any parts. The cache is a separate part from the controller.

Thanks

Re: SA-P800, ADU will not configured device : The cache is permanently disabled ? ( can it be fixed

Hi

I removed the SA-P800 card from the server, and disassembled the Cache module and connected batteries.

As I could not afford to have the production server down I installed the card in a non HP server.  The ACU utility did not report any issues with the card and I was able to connect a MSA 60 to it and create some volumes and run some load generating tools from them.

So it would seem that the act of re-assembling the card cleared the cache errors, thanks for the tip.

Naim.
