SA-P800 fails to see connected drives, system won't complete post

I'm having issues with HP sa-p800 pci-e controllers.

I'm on my second controller and both exhibit identical symptoms.

System will boot and sa-p800 initializes bit reports 1785 error,  no drives attached, system then hangs and won't complete to boot stage.  I have 2 sas drives connected to internal port 3 on controller, no external drives.

It this a easy to fix problem or is the controller just not compatible with the server?

thanks

19 views so far and no one has even a hint why this card works in one machine but not another ?!?

Re: SA-P800 fails to see connected drives, system won't complete post

the controller works in the hp server and workstations

I only have one other machine that has an open pci-e slot, is the asus and it hangs during the p800 controller post phase,  it reports no drives are detected, even though drives are connected and properly configured.  At that point the machine basically stops and never gets past the post stage.   I suspect that this is by design, and HP forces us to use hp machines with their controller cards,    but it hasn't happened with some of their older scsi controllers.  Still Very annoying and unfortuant as I don't have the resources to go buy a newer generic raid controller just to achieve the same results.

any suggestions?
