SA status degraded on ML350 G6/P410i-zero

I have just set up a ML350 G6 with a P410i zero-mem controller and 2 LFF hot-swap 750 GB SATA disks.

The SA automatically created a RAID1+0 logical drive for me, when I inserted the disks.

I am running ESXi 4.0 installed on a SD card, using the HP installer. In the vSphere client I get a warning in the health status of the SA:

I have installed HP SIM, and there the warning shows up as minor, stating that my array is degraded:

I am not sure, if the created RAID is actually a RAID 1+0 or RAID 1. As I understand it, a RAID 1+0 must contain at least 4 disks, which would explain the degraded warning when using only 2 disks. Does that sound like a reasonable explanation? Using the ORCA I can only choose between RAID1+0 or RAID0. Maybe I can choose plain RAID1 using ACU?

Another possible explanation could be, that I do not have a write cache or battery on the controller, but I am not getting any of the error messages mentioned in:

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,
