SAS HDD SFF Spare 376596-001
Is this true?
According to information from HP the SFF SAS HDD 36GB 10K 1 Port Hot Swappeble disks are discontinued.
I just bought a Prolinat ML350 G5 server last year. 4 Disks total in Raid-5.
Last week had one disk faillure. Disks are in backorder(overnight shipping) and are coming.
Can I replace the 36GB SFF SAS HDD with a 72GB SFF SAS HDD in my raid-5 config?
Or do i have to buy 4 x 72GB SAS disks and reconfigure my whole server again?
Thnxs,
Janto

Re: SAS HDD SFF Spare 376596-001
You can replace it, but it is going to work as a 36GB HDD, since all the hard drives in a logical drive need to be of the same size, otherwise the array will take all the HDD as the smallest size
If it's not fun, you're not doing it right

Re: SAS HDD SFF Spare 376596-001
Discontinued or end-of-life parts are usually spared for several years after the product end of life. So, you shouldn't be having a problem getting drive replacements. Often, if they just don't have any more equivalent parts, they will send the next higher one. But as long as your server is under warranty you will get a replacement one way or another.
