SAS discs not working
hello
i have a proliant ml350p g8 with 6 LFF sas disks and raid card p430 working normally but yesterday i started having issues
1- the raid card p430 did not work properly ( but after reseating it worked correctly )
2-more than 5 HP sas disks are not being detected by the system in only 2 slots ( slot 1 and 2 )
if i remove the disks labeled as bad or not working in slot 1 and 2 and install the in any of the other slots they work normally.
i even got new disk from HP , installed it in slot 1 and 2 with same result
in all , i tried more than 5 disks that i'm sure are working , but they keep failing in slot 1 and 2 .. i verified the backplane cables are well installed
when i install the disk it shows yellow led
what can i verify ?! can individual ports in the backplane die ? and would my data be lost if i change the backplane?

Re: SAS discs not working
OK, because the HP Smart Array P430 controller is not supported in Slots 3 and 4.
Is firmware 5.02 running?

Hope this helps!

Re: SAS discs not working
If the issues stays with the slot, it could be an issue with the backplane or even with the cable.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SAS discs not working
Does the issue remains on the slot?
Then you can also swap the cable ports.
What result do you get?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SAS discs not working
Sorry, I forgot you are using the P430. This controller has different cables.
Do you still have the cables for the built-in P420i?
For testing, you may consider to connect the disk backplane to the P420i.
If this works, the backplane is OK.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
