In a DL380G5 can two p400 controller be attached to the SCSI baclplane?

yes you can
usually 1 p400 can control all 8 HDDs, using 2 cables so each connects 1 channel to the backplane
so what you can do is get 2 p400 controller and use a cable from p400 and connect the backplane
check page 73

so see 1 controller supporting all 8 HDDs since that controller connects both channel in the backplane
just get 2 p400 and use 1 channel from each p400
