SCSI 3 internal cabeling

If I want to use full internal SCSI3 data transfer speed, do I need to purchase the optional 166389-B21 cable between the 5300 raid controller and the disks?

Best regards,

Yes! I would recommend this cable for Ultra 2 and Ultra 3 support.

I dont understand... The cable that comes with the ML570 fits correctly.. Is it possible for this cable to provide a bottleneck??? Is the cable mentioned above preferred on most installations?? If so then what type of cable comes default with the ML570 ???? and why???

In the new machines, I have seen cables with ULTRA 3 written on it. Those are the good ones. With the old cables, only SCSI 2 is supported.

Re: SCSI 3 internal cabeling

Wait a minute. I'm not sure i understand. I bought our ML570 late last year, with the 5300/128 controller. I'm using a pair of the 9.1 ultra2' s mirrored for boot, and 10 of the 36G's for storage (using 7 w/1 hot spare, 2 cold spares). Do I need to buy a different cable set to realize the full throughput of these drives? If so, i'm guessing the above cable will do it.?
thanks
