SCSI Hard Disk Array Configuration For Windows 2003 - Proliant DL380 G2

Hi,

I have configured a Compaq DL380G2 server with 6x Ultra 160 Ultra 3 18.2GB SCSI drives.
The raid array has been configured in ACU to use RAID 0+1 Mirroring for the first 2 drives.
All other drives have not been added to the array.

When booting to Windows 2003 and running Disk Management it shows jsut one basic Disk as being installed (18.2Gb). Is this correct for a RAID 0+1 or show I be seeing the 2nd mirrored drive?

Does 2003 show the additional disks in the array or do I need to configure them in a RAID 5 array config. before it shows this configuration in disk management.

Thanks

Hello Darren1010,

Since its a raid 0+1,the array will be presented as a single volume to the OS.

Also if the disks are connected to the onboard 5i controller(i guess it is),its a hardware raid and the OS will not see the volume until configured.

Hi Darren,

The Disk Management is showing you the right information.

Once the Raid 5 is created it will show that has one logical disk in the Disk Management.

To configure and manage the array use the Array Configuration Utility(ACU).

To access ACU:
Start -> Programs->Compaq/Hp System tools-> ACU.

You could download the latest ACU from the following link:

Raj.
