SCSI Hardware detection

Currently my SCSI adaptor has detected my "Compaq DAT 6 Autoloader" as a "HP C1557" tape device. How can I remove the HP C1557 drivers/settings and have the SCSI adaptor detect the Compaq tape device correctly. The tape devices area in control panel also says I have a HP C1557 and will not let me change this either.

As an end note ArcseveIT detects the device correctly and I have no problems with backup.

The tape drive is an HP C1557 - this string is coded in the rom of the tape drive. The SCSI Adapter will display this on boot, and this is how it's supposed to show up in control panel.
