Running the array diagnostic report shows this;
SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 0 is not stamped for monitoring
SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 4 is not stamped for monitoring
SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 5 is not stamped for monitoring
I've tried turning off (& on) the Array Accelerator and I've also tried changing the expansion rate to high and then back to low.
Nothing I do seems to cause those 3 drives to get stamped for monitoring.
Any Ideas? I'd like to fix them :-)
PS>All drives are identical and have the same firmware revision.
Thanks!
Marvin

Re: SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 0 is not stamped for monitoring
you can try something like this:
-- Open ACU
-- Select the controller which has the Drive connected
-- Change the READ/WRITE Setting from 50%/50% (default) to 75%/25%
-- Save & Exit
-- Again Login Back into ACU
-- Select the controller which has the drive connected
-- Change it back To 50/50
-- Save & Exit
The action will force regeneration of the M&P stamps.
Are the HDDs Compaq branded?
Do you use the newest firmware?

Re: SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 0 is not stamped for monitoring
There appears to be no way to do this. The only option I have is 100% read and 0% write.
This will be due to the fact that the controller has no battery backed cache (DL380G2 w/ stock 5i controller)
"The action will force regeneration of the M&P stamps."
I have tried changing the re-build rate from low/low to high/high - this also did not result in the drives being stamped.
"Are the HDDs Compaq branded?"
Yes, all 6 drives are Compaq
"Do you use the newest firmware?"
Yes, each drive has the latest firmware installed and they are all identical.
Thanks for your suggestions - is there anything else that will fix this issue?

Re: SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 0 is not stamped for monitoring
What version of ACU are you using.
Try Booting through Smart Start version 7.0 and run Array configuration utility.
After you Boot thte Server using Smart Start,Change the Rebuild Priority < Save < Revert to original Rebuild priority < Save Configuration and check.
The Smart Start 7.0 can be downloaded from here:

Re: SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 0 is not stamped for monitoring
I'm using 7.60.18.0
"Try Booting through Smart Start version 7.0 and run Array configuration utility."
Will this harm the existing array/data?
"After you Boot thte Server using Smart Start,Change the Rebuild Priority < Save < Revert to original Rebuild priority < Save Configuration and check.
The Smart Start 7.0 can be downloaded from here: "
Do I have to use that version or can I use my existing one?
Thanks!

Re: SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 0 is not stamped for monitoring
You can run the array diagnostic utility and attach the report. That can help us get more information regarding the issue.
cheers,

SolutionI checked the Adu report, it indicates a lot of hard read errors for the 3hdd's that is not stamped for monitoring. There seems to be communication errors between the controller and the hdd. The controller firmware version is 2.62, Can we try updating it to version 2.66.

Re: SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 0 is not stamped for monitoring
Thanks very much for spotting the old firmware! I'm usually very good about keeping all firmware current.
I updated the controller firmware with the link you provided and then re-started the server.
I then entered the ACU and changed the rebuild settings to high and then exited and re-checked to see if monitoring was enabled for those three drives - still nothing :-(
I then turned off array acceleration and turned it back on and re-checked for monitoring - still nothing :-(
Any ideas? Thanks for your continued help!

Re: SCSI Port 2 Drive ID 0 is not stamped for monitoring
Running ACU from Smart Start just to change the rebuild priority won't harm data.
Use only Smart Start 7 and not any version above it.It should resolve this.
