SCSI tape not detected in DL380

I have DL380 G4 server with 4 hotplug discs and one StorageWorks DAT 72 hotplug scsi tape. The tape is detected by smartarray 6i during the booting process, but my OS (tried Mandriva 2006 as well as Suse Enterprise Server 9 ) doesn'd detect it. Cat /proc/scsi/scsi doesn't show any attached devices, scsiadd -s doesn't show anything either.
Could anyone help ?

Re: SCSI tape not detected in DL380

Hi Peter,

Does dmesg show anything odd?

What happens if you try to load the scsi module manually, something like

modprobe aic7xxx (or whatever scsi controller type the smartarray uses)

modprobe st

Re: SCSI tape not detected in DL380

One other thing, but this was for a Redhat flavor, someone (i think it was one Bill Wood) mentioned adding this script to get their scsi tape to work with their smartarrary in /etc/rc.d/init.d:

for x in /proc/driver/cciss/cciss[0-9]*
do
echo "engage scsi" > $x
done
