SIM SQL migration problem

I have a SIM 5.2 install. when installing, I experienced problems getting the install to progress with a remote SQL 2005 server to the point where I eneded up proceeding with a default SQLexpress install.
I have found documentation on migrating from a local SQL2005 DB to a remote on but cannot find documentation on migrating from local SQLexpress to a remote SQL 2005 DB server.
Has anyone done this and if so, how?
