SMART ARRAY P400 PROLIANT DL 380 G5 / WINDOWS 2003 SERVER R2 SP2

Good morning ,  it is possible I need to install a new SMART ARRAY P400 card  , but I would need to create a RAID1 configuration again because it is a new card , I am going to use F8 ORCA procedure , please  does someone know this procedure to create a RAID 1 again ?

I would install the card into PCIe slot , then boot the server ,  I hope the server identifies the Smart Array Controller , then F8 and create the RAID1 configuration , the SAS disks already exist ,

Is there any problem with the information into the disks ?

Thanks for your support

Best Regards

Ricardo

The RAID information is stored in an area called 'RIS' on each disk in the array.  During POST the controller retrieves the RAID configuration from teh drives. Replacing a defective controller should not cause data loss.
