SNMP not functioning fully on ML350p Gen 8
I have a server that's proving something of a head-scratcher.
The issue is that SNMP appears to be only partially working. For example, if I do a walk of the IP of the server I don't get anything back relating to fans, hard disks and so forth. I've upgraded the management controller driver, insight agents, system management home page - everything I can think of, really - but nothing has made any difference.
I'm hoping someone on here is able to point me in some other things to try.
Sorry for being quite vague!

Re: SNMP not functioning fully on ML350p Gen 8
Yep, it's configured with a "public" community, read-only, set to respond to any host.

Re: SNMP not functioning fully on ML350p Gen 8
The Gen8 are different to all older models.
The ILO can now monitor the hardware completely and gets OS information from the agentless driver.
If you want all the agents on the OS, you should not run agentless at the same time.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SNMP not functioning fully on ML350p Gen 8
Ok, thanks for that info.
I need to be able to monitor the health of the server via the traditional way as that's how our RMM platform is geared up to work with.
Is this possible to do?

Re: SNMP not functioning fully on ML350p Gen 8
It is, but you could also test to query the ILO.
See for example
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: SNMP not functioning fully on ML350p Gen 8
I know I can do it through the ILO using our RMM (N-able) but right now we're not in a position to be able to re-engineer our implementation to support monitoring that way.
Do you know how to turn off the agentless/ILO approach and have everything exposed via the agents?

Re: SNMP not functioning fully on ML350p Gen 8
IIRC the HP SIM manual has a chapter about this topic.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SNMP not functioning fully on ML350p Gen 8
Maybe it is a solution for you to use SNMP pass-thru?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
