SPP cannot install with HPSUM

Hi,

I am trying to install SPP version Feb 2013 on my Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 6.4 on my Proliant DL980. This is the error I keep on getting:

./hpsum:error while loading share libraries: libuuid.so.l: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

Please, what should i do to proceed successfully with the installation ?

Best regards,

Yaboto

Re: SPP cannot install with HPSUM

Have you also downloaded the SPP supplement for RHEL 6.4?

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/service_packs/en/index.html

Take a look at the release notes and make sure you have all the required packages installed

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/doc/p1822529277/v86493/RHEL6.4Supplement-SPP2013.02.0rev1ReleaseNotes.pdf

Another option to use the native linux tools is to install the updates from the HP SDR

http://downloads.linux.hp.com/

Hello Yaboto,

You can view the information how to update SPP from the below HPGT URL:

http://h20584.www2.hp.com/hpgt/guides/select?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=5104018&lang=en&cc=us

Select the option ->Updating Proliant Server Using SPP

The issue is that when i try to run HPSUM I get the following error:

./hpsum:error while loading share libraries: libuuid.so.l: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

Did you look at the above listed release notes and verify you have all the required packages installed?

Also if you setup the HP SDR listed above as a software repository, yum should install any dependencies missing

Re: SPP cannot install with HPSUM

Hi,

You may refer below Redhat support document with same issue:

https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/59719

However, to resolve the issue you download and install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 Supplement for HP Service Pack for ProLiant 2013.02.0 from the below link.

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/service_packs/documentation/index.html

Also refer the release note PDF given below for fixes and page number 10 for Deployment Instructions:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/doc/p1822529277/v86493/RHEL6.4Supplement-SPP2013.02.0rev1ReleaseNotes.pdf

For detailed steps or to Determine how you want to access the data on the ISO refer the SPP Guided Troubleshooting from below link:

 http://h20584.www2.hp.com/hpgt/guides/select?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=5104018&lang=en&cc=us

Go to Methods to Access SPP Image > Select the option you want to use.

You will get detailed steps for all below options.

Using HP USB Key Utility
 Using iLO Virtual Media
 Mounting SPP ISO Image
Copying the SPP to a hard drive

I hope this will help you to install the SPP.

Re: SPP cannot install with HPSUM

I had encountered the same problem.

The problem occurs if you are running the Hpsum command on Red Hat 64 bit system

The loading of failed libraries is due to incompatible packages or uninstalled packages.

basically if you check the associated package with the library file you will find that it is already installed in your system

but what you are seeing is basically the 64bit version of the package installed.

But the Hpsum scripts requires or depends on libraries for 32 bit system even if you are running the Spp in 64 bit system.

Sol:

Find the associated package for the unloadable librabries and install their respective 32 bit package.

eg:- in ur case the error is

./hpsum:error while loading share libraries: libuuid.so.l: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

You will find that this library is associated with libuuid1 package.

Please install the libuuid1 package for 32 bit system ..

i believe it will be something like libuuid1:386

I believe after this you may encounter further unloadable libraries.. like libc6 , libsm6, libxrender1 ..... and soo on

better yet add the rhel 32bits lib packages repository in your sources list so that you can easily installl using

Yum !!

Hope this helps.
