SQL Server Performance - DL380G4 vs. DL385
Has anyone out there seen any good performance comparisons for W2K3/SQL on the DL380 G4 vs. DL385 platforms? We're in the process of selecting a platform and a quad-processor server like the DL500 series is probably overkill, so the DL300 series with SAS is our candidate.
I've worked with Opteron-based DLs, but only supporting ESX Server, not as a SQL database platform. Can anyone provide some feedback or experience with the DL385 in this capacity? Thank you in advance for your responses.
Scott

Re: SQL Server Performance - DL380G4 vs. DL385
Well, it's not apples for apples, but at least something - have a look at www.tpc.org at their database performance benchmarks.
You could compare both boxes applying these filters:
http://www.tpc.org/tpcc/results/tpcc_advanced_sort.asp?PRINTVER=false&FLTCOL1=tpcc.c_sponsor&FLTCOLOPR1=EXACTLY&FLTCHO1=HP&FLTROWOPR1=AND&FLTCOL2=tpcc.c_server_procs&FLTCOLOPR2=%3D&FLTCHO2=2&FLTROWOPR2=AND&FLTCOL3=tpc_os.os_company&FLTCOLOPR3=EXACTLY&FLTCHO3=Microsoft&ADDFILTERROW=&filterRowCount=3&SRTCOL1=tpcc.c_tpmc&SRTDIR1=DESC&ADDSORTROW=&sortRowCount=1&DISPRES=100+PERCENT&include_withdrawn_re...
BTW - it looks like brand new Intel CPUs in the ML370 G5 really kick ass!
Rgds.
