SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Hi. I have a Proliant ML350eGEN8. I bought two SSD drivers (Intel S4500 240 GB). The drives are not recognized (RAID controller or operating system). What can I do for further troubleshot? Are there any known issues with ssd/sata drives with this server ? Thank you.

Re: SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Make sure the drive bays you are inserting these drives in are actually connected to a controller via the backplane. Some versions of this system shipped with multiple drive cages, but only one was actualy connected to a controller.

Re: SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Are more drives of any type attached to the controller? are you using B120i, right?

Re: SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Hi. Thank you for your reply. No, it is not the B201i. It's the P420.

Re: SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Hi again,
could you let me know if there are more disks installed using this controller? if yes, are they working? other SSDs?
From your output I can see the firmware revision of the controller is quite old. I would advised to update it to 8.00 - 8.32 and see if there is any change.
Let me know,
thanks

Re: SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Hi. Thank your for your answer.
There are 4 drives in 2 volumes installed (RAID 1).
I added the 2 SSD drives. Are there any issues regarding firwmware updates and lack of recognition of ssd drives ?

Re: SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Not sure if you mentioning about cache module installed but just in case:
No cache memory configurations :supports up to 2 logical volumes 512MB cache and greater, Up to 64 logical volumes.
Let me know, I am trying to find more information..

Re: SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Hi
Please, if you can help me I have a couple of questions:
1: Is it safe to do the controller's firwmware update ? Can I safely only use tha last update avaiable or is it advisable to do firstly an older one?
2: Is there any kind of compability between the hard drives that aren't recognized and the controller or any other hard drives that aren´t either? I have seen similiar problems on the internet.
3: Are there any hard drives that i can buy and and now for sure that will be recognized ?
The aim of these SSD drives are for speed improvement in database aplications. The server already has two logical volumes in RAID1, but are SATA drives. The server run critical apliccations that must be avaiable 24x24.
Thank you
Best regards

Re: SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Hi!
Please, concerning this problem with ssd hard drive recognition you said to perform a firmware update.
Concerning the firmware the system has (you said it is a very old one), it it safe to install this (last one): ?
Or should I pick an older version ?
Is it a safe operation ?
Than you, best regards
