Safe operating temperature

I have a few DL580's and DL380's and some netbotz pods in a rack. The netbotz pods are reporting a temperature of an average of 90degrees F. I realize this is a high temperature, the lab the servers are in is undergoing some remodeling and upgrading to the AC. However, I'm curious to find out what all of you feel is a max temperature that the servers should be run in. In other words: at what temperature should the servers be shutdown? I've heard from some that say at 98degrees is the max they feel is safe.

I would appreciate any info you would like to share.

Thanks!

Re: Safe operating temperature

Hi T,
I found the specs for DL580s and 380s that should answer your question (these are ranges when the system is in operation)...

dl580 g1
temp 50° to 95°F, humidity 20% to 80%
dl580 g2
temp 50° to 95° F, humidity 10% to 70%
dl580 g3
temp 41° to 113° F, humidity 10 % to 80%

dl380 g1
temp 50° to 95°F, humidity 20% to 80%
dl380 g2
temp 50° to 95°F, humidity 10% to 90%
dl380 g3
temp 50° to 95°F, humidity 10% to 90%
dl380 g4
temp 50° to 95°F, humidity 10% to 90%
