Second IDE channel on Proliant 800

What steps do I need to take to activate the second IDE channel on a Proliant 800, please?

Re: Second IDE channel on Proliant 800

The Proliant 800 never came with a second IDE controller. This server is designed for SCSI only. The cdromn is the only IDE device on this server. IF you want to connect a IDE hard drive to the cdrom chain then you will have problems booting into an OS. It doesn't matter if it's IDE or SCSI hard drives.
Are you trying to install a PCI IDE controller?

Re: Second IDE channel on Proliant 800

I was fooled by the second IDE connector, but understand that this isn't achievable.
My solution will be to boot from SCSI, and hang the IDE drives from a plug-in ATAPI adaptor - and it'll be faster.
Thanks.
