Second Processor Not Recognized

I've installed the appropriate SMP modules from the latest NSSD, but monitor only shows 1 active processor.

I'm running Intranetware 4.11 with the latest support pack (sp9). All other server operations function normally.

Any suggestions?

Re: Second Processor Not Recognized

Be sure to update the NVRAM (system config). If you dont, the new drivers wont know that the additonal processor is there. So, F10 and when you see the screen where you choose the System Configuration, use CTRL+A to enter into Advanced mode. In the system configuration, you will see a section called Advanced Config (or something relatively close). The last line in that section will pretain to the APIC and there will be some options. Take note of the type of processor architecture you are running. If you are running PPro chips, you need the APIC to be Mapped, Full Table. If you are running Xeons, you will need Full Table (the OS takes care of the mapping. It is a Post PII architectual thing).

There you go. Provided you have the native 4.11 SMP components, in additon to the 2.20 SSD for novell, you should be golden.

Re: Second Processor Not Recognized

Check the following .LOAD CPQSMP.PSM in STARTUP.NCF

1.Load NetWare 4.1 SMP/intraNetWare SMP as your primary operating system. (from System Configuration Utility)

2.Restart the server and LOAD INSTALL from the server console prompt.

3.Select Multi CPU options, then choose Select a Platform Support Module.

4.Select CPQSMP.PSM from Compaq and follow the prompts.

Important: The PSM must be the first driver loaded in STARTUP.NCF. LOAD SMP.NLM and LOAD MPDRIVER.NLM statements should immediately precede the loading of the PSM, and be located before other drivers but after any SET parameters and patches are loaded.

Re: Second Processor Not Recognized

There is NO NEED to mess with the APIC settings in Setup as long as you just set the operating system correctly in Setup!
