Serial ATA-150 / SAS Smart Array P410i

I have recently purchased DL 380 G6 E5504 server. but unfortunately I cant configure RAID 5 as it has only support for Raid 0. I would appreciate to guide me the right product to upgrade or replace the controller which support raid 5. I have installed 3 x 146GB HDD on it. Thanks.

Re: Serial ATA-150 / SAS Smart Array P410i

You probably have the Zero Memory P410i controller taht why you are only allowed to create raid0 or raid1.

First you need to get a cache/BBWC upgrade on the controller and then you will have the raid5 features availabe on the P410.

For 256MB memory you should buy the 256MB cache 462968-B21 and the battery kit 462969-B21 (you need both parts)

For 512MB memory you need 534916-B21 (it includes cache and battery)

After that you will have the raid5 option available. Now to convert from raid0 to raid5 you have to have all 3 disks in one raid0 array (not 3 separate raid0 arrays with one disk in each) and you must not be using more than 286GB of raid logical volumes (no more than the equivalent of two disks)

Here are the quickspecks of the server with all the details. I forgot to include it in my previous rely.
