Serial Port of DL320 G5 don't work
I have installed a Debian 4.0 on a HP Proliant DL320 G5 (418045-421) but I can't get the serial port work with an external (serial) modem.
I can't connect with the modem.
I try minicom, to send command via echo 'ATDT 12345678' > /dev/ttyS0 and the connected modem don't give any answer.
I have to put any special parameters on the BIOS?
I have to upgrade the BIOS?
I can't connect with the modem.

Re: Serial Port of DL320 G5 don't work
Hi Luis,
This sounds similar to an ILO issue on the G4's. Please check the following article which shows how to disable the CLI interface on the ILO. When it is enabled, it polls the COM port and causes issues with attached modems and UPS etc.

I hope this helps.
Brian

Re: Serial Port of DL320 G5 don't work
Hi,
i agree with Brian.
Check if you have Virtual COM Port enabled and if yes - disable
If all that does not help - cross-check the Serial Port with another device (for example mouse). If another Serial Devices are working fine on the port, problem is in the modem. If not and disabling CLI and Virtual COM Port did not help, system board should be replaced
