Server 2008 installation fails on DL 585 G2 with usb bugcode

I have a DL585 G2 that previously had Windows Server 2003 installed - no problems. I attempted to do a clean install of Server 2008 but get a BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER error towards the end of the install.

How do I proceed with this? The installation fails and I am back to square 1.

the recommendation is always has latest firmware before installing W2008, but for your specific error(BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER ) is that you need to update your ilo firmware to the latest 1.5

Can this firmware be loaded via a bootable disk or does it have to be run from an existing OS?

the link I provided you have both options it is bootable or you can run it online in case you have not formatted your previous W2003 for that server

just downloaded and run it online or boot with it

Yes, it seems to be fine. Windows Server 2008 installed ok after the firmware update. The problem was with the Integrated Lights Out firmware being unable to support 2008.
