Server 350ML G6 shutdown last night not sure wat happened

We have a 350ML G6 server with 2008 server OS that shutdown by itself last night. The user reported that the light was red at the front panel. So we asked him to restart the server and it cam back fine.
Red light indicates overheat issue, right?
Is there anyway we can monitor the temperature for the server? I don't see any HP tools installed on the server.
Can someone point me to the right software to install so we can monitor the temperature?
There is nothing in the windows logs that shows issues with the OS or software.
Thanks

Re: Server 350ML G6 shutdown last night not sure wat happened

"Red (or maybe amber?) light" on [presumably] one of internal or external health LEDs does not indicate just overheating problems. There could be a number of reasons. If the server came back up - the issue might not be critical [yet]. Did the LED turned and stayed green after the boot?

Windows logfiles could not be as helpful as MP logfiles. You should take a look at those also.

Here are some "wild guess" links on possible hardware problems:

As for monitoring tools - a good starting point could be http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=3884316〈=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3884315 - choose your OS and then take a look at "Software - System management" subsection.

Just curious what UPS you are using and if you have power fluctuations. some of us have fought similar symptoms. Check out this thread.

Re: Server 350ML G6 shutdown last night not sure wat happened

Modris and Wayne, thank you very much for replying to my question.

Wayne, I believe we are having the same issue as the one many people have experienced and shared on the thread you shared with me.

The server was not attached to a UPS till few days ago. The shutdown happened after the UPS was installed.
The UPS is Cyperpower

The server is not attached directly to the UPS. It is attached to a power management device (Triplight)
http://www.cdwg.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1136738

We never had this issue before so it looks like there is something with the UPS. Only 2 devices are connected to the UPS (the power management and a small network switch) and I'm told the load was ok. Neither the power management device nor the switch were off so I don't think there was a power outage in the office. Unfortunately, I'm not in the same office where this server is located so have to get my information from others.

Wayne, which UPS do you recommend we should get?

Thanks
