Server does not recognize new drive installed
Hello,
I currently have a failed hard drive on my Proliant ML350 G3 and have sourced a new hard drive to replace it that matches the same spec as the old one.
From my understanding I should be able to remove the old hard drive and replace it with the new one causing it to auto rebuild. But the system informs me it can not reconise the new hard drive?
It is currently in a raid 5 and using a Smart Array 641 controller.
if you need any more information please let me know.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Steven

Re: Server does not recognize new drive installed
hi,
What about the firmware version on the HDD ?
remove the failed drive wait around 30 seconds before you insert the new HDD.

Re: Server does not recognize new drive installed
What was wrong with the failed HDD in the first place. Can you check it in another server to make sure its actually broken ( so you confirm it is not a backplane problem or soemthing like that)? What color leds are lit on the first HDD/ second HDD? Any at all?
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary, is that little extra.
