Re: Server migration

hi,

could you please send where did you get this Utility ???

what exactly do you like to do, you will install WIndows OS on the DL server and them join to the existing domain ??? or you like to make a bare metal restore on the HP proliant ???
You should consider, that idf you have the IBM server installed from OEM cd, i think this could be a problem, with the license.

Re: Server migration

Hi.

First of all in HP's Application P2P stands for "Proliant to Proliant" not in the regular way "Physical to Physical" So migrating from a IBM server to a Proliant with that tool will not work properly.

Think the best way would be as mentioned above to install new OS on the proliant server and join it to the domain so that all settings is synced to the new server then demote the older server.

Recommed you talk to or hire a windows consultant on this job.

Re: Server migration

hi MAH,

P2P (Physical-to-Proliant) migrations can also be done with the Insight Server Migration tool. You do need to have a P2P license for each server you plan to migrate.

Check chapter 4 (page 43) of this guide:

good luck, points are appreciated if the answers help!
