Service Pack incompatibility question

I recently made a mistake and wanted to know the best course of action to fix.

I have an HP ProLiant ML350p Gen 8 server running Windows Server 2008 R2

I mistakenly installed HP ProLiant Service Pack 2017.07.1 on the server which is only meant for G9 and G10 servers, and doesn't have Windows Server 2008 R2 listed as a supporter operating system.

I meant to install the Gen 8.0 service pack (which includes support for Gen 8 servers as well as Windows Server 2008 R2) but mistakenly mounted the wrong ISO.

What is the best option here? Should I just install the Gen 8.0 service pack and "Force" the installation of all the drivers?  Or, should I just let things go if they're working ok?

Furthermore, what if I have a Gen 9/10 server running Windows Server 2008 R2?  Would I just install the 2017.04.0 service pack since it supports the Windows 2008 OS?

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

Re: Service Pack incompatibility question

don't worry, it installs only drivers that fit your system, some drivers are the same for gen8 and gen9, and are inside both SPPs. this is not an issue. you can run now SPPGen8 and check, if some are still missing

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
