Setting Up RAID

Hi All,

I need some advice and tips on setting up RAID on a new server. It will have the following SPECS.

ML350e G8

B120i controller (RAID 0/1/1+0)

HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC

HP 600GB 6G SAS 15K rpm LFF   x 6

I need to get the best performance and redundancy options I possibly can from this. The idea was to setup RAID 10, as I think they will give us 2 redundancy disks.... (Could be Wrong)   I have just been informed we can not have the 6 disks in one hit, but we can have 4..... Would it be possible to create a RAID configuration without all the disk's and just add them in a later point in time?

Would I better going for another RAID configuration? if so... what one?  Would I be able to add the extra disk's in a later time to expand the RAID?

Would RAID 0+1 be a better option? but agian would I be able to add extra disk to increase the size?

Re: Setting Up RAID

Hi,

Have you already configured RAID? Its been a week and no replies.

Have you thought of RAID 5 with 5 disks and sixth disk as Hot Spare?

Thank You!
