Slow DLT 40/80i

I have a problem - I can not get over 10 Mb/minute transfer on the DLT drive - which is a "Compaq" DLT Drive - from factory.

I have placed it on several other SCSI Ultra2LVD Controllers (other servers) and swapped cables. The DLT's (same make/model) work fine in the other servers, but my problem child DLT will not get over 10 Mb/min.

Is this bad hardware? - Jumper settings match the DLT's that work.

thanks!!!

Re: Slow DLT 40/80i

It's possible that this one has an issue of some kind (odd one, but...). Do you know what firmware type this drive has now?

Re: Slow DLT 40/80i

depending on the backup software in use, you may want to experiment with block size for the backup - we've seen some instances there a variable block size can cause slow backups.

Re: Slow DLT 40/80i

You don t speak about the BU software, but you should let the dlt alone on the scsi channel, unload the services of your BU software, install the driver for nt4 and the dlt40/80 and try with ntbackup (it is not the fastest one but it work ok) you should be above 80mB/min.
And reformat the cartridge.
