Slow POST after update to firmware 8.7

One of my customers updated two DL585 G2s to firmware rev 8.7. Now both machines take 15-30 minutes to POST, and ILO is inaccessible. Restoring the previous ROM does not solve the problem. The media board displays code 52 during the pause, and nothing is displayed on the local monitor.

I haven't seen any warnings about 8.7, nor did a search of ITRC return any results.
