Smart Array 5300 Controller
Hi,
I have a fully functioning and properly configured ProLiant DL580 running Win2K. I have two 18GB HDD's connected to a Smart Array 5300 Controller in a RAID 1 Array. I want to move the second HDD from this array to a brand new DL580 server to create and exact replica of the primary server for DR purposes. Does anyone know the correct sequence of steps to take to rebuild the array on the new server? The new server has the exact same hardware (including RAID controller) as the source server.

Re: Smart Array 5300 Controller
Hello,
Please make sure that you have the exact HW configuration on the new server as well. The firmware of the controller and the system bios should be uptodate. Though we do not support a configuration you intend to do but surely you can make a full backup of your data first before attempting such an installation. The array configuration information is stored on the HDDs locally therefore when you move the controller and the HDDs together then there should not be any problems.
