Jane,

Be aware of what I mentioned earlier, that firmware versions prior to V2.32 may require that you update the drivers first. If you are running Windows 2000 I would suggest updating the drivers with the software CD or downloading the Product Support Pack (PSP) from here. I don't know it its the cosmetic changed from Compaq to HP labeled products that cause an issue with Plug-and-Play after the device name has changed but there can be issues so update the drivers to accommodate this first.

We have a SA6404 in a DL380 G3. We have update both the driver and the firmware to no avail. The battery was replaced by HP once.

Does anyone have a definative solution to this problem???

Has anyone experienced data corruption due to this?? One of our Oracle tables got corrupted and we suspect it could be a disk/controller related problem.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Ian,

Run the Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU) and check the output for the Array Accelerator Status.

Example:-
ACCELERATOR STATUS:

"Battery Status" values 0x0000, 0x0001 and 0x0002 for extended periods of time (more than 5 hours) may represent problem with batteries. Value 0x0003 is normal (good)

"Failed Batteries" value 0x0001, 0x0002 and 0x0003 indicate battery problems. Value 0x0000 is normal (good)
"Failed Batteries"=0x001 =BBWC Battery
"Failed Batteries"=0x002 =Controller Battery
"Failed Batteries"=0x003 =Both (BBWC + Controller)

The BBWC and Controller batteries have the same HP spare part number which is 307132-001. If in doubt, get both replaced.

You can generate a report from the ADU (Report.TXT) and attach it as a reply if you want your details confirmed.
