Hello,
We just installed a brand new SA6404 controller with 256MB memory and firmware 2.62.
When booting the server (DL380G4) it shows only 192MB.
Someone gota clue on why this is?
The DIMM on the SA6404 says it's 256MB.
Thanks for the response.
Greeting,
Ronald

Re: Smart Array 6404/256
Ronald,
I fitted one of these a couple of weeks ago, and found exactly the same thing.
I thought I just dreamt that the spec said 256Mb when I ordered it. I'll be watching with interest on this thread...

Solution
Not all SA controller memory goes to cache, part of this memory reserved for internal buffers. More cache--more reserved memory. With 256MB reserved 64MB, with 512--128, with 128 -- 32MB. Some SA controllers (5i, 6i) showing all memory when booting, some (for instance SA640x) only memory for cache.

Also controllers can show on not memory reservation differently with different firmware.
