I have a brand new DL580 G2 with a MSA500 drive array kit.
I have only one modular controller on the disk rack with 2 scsi plug. I have 2 Smart Array 642 in the DL580.
Is there a way to configure the 2 smart array card to be backup to the other?
One more thing, How may I save the array configuration with this controller? i can't find the option... But i did it all the time with NetRaid card...
thanks!

Re: Smart Array 642 + MSA 500 configuration
So what is the best practice... i left the 2 card in the machine so if one day one failed i will just have to plug the disk rack into the second raid, reboot and load my config that i would have previously save on a floppy.
Is there any specific on wich PCI slut i should use to get best performance on this server for my SmartArray card?

Re: Smart Array 642 + MSA 500 configuration
All Slot at same Supported Speed
If you ever experience Controller failure along you move Cable you need to Set Boot Controller Order from F9
I would recommend having Controller Out and keeping as spare, if you have more than one Box.
In F9 based Server (system ROM) you don't have to use any Diskettes as in Older Servers, Boot Order will do work and Array configuration will be picked from Drives.

Re: Smart Array 642 + MSA 500 configuration
Do you recommand me to plug the internal disk on the smart array 642 too?
My internal drive are only for the OS, all applications are on the Disk Cage.
I just take a look and i didn't see how i can plug the internar disk on the smart array, do you have any document to refer me that will show me what i have to do?
thanks!
