Smart Array Contr. 200i -> ACU - RAID 10 does not appear

Greetings, I am configuring a ML 350 and its ACU does not give me the option RAID 10.

Hello Sascha,

you need at least two disks, or if you have more disks, an even number of disks to create a RAID 1+0. If you have an odd number of disks, use on disk as a spare disk.

Re: Smart Array Contr. 200i -> ACU - RAID 10 does not appear

Hello, thank you for your response; I have six 250GB HotSpares and when I select them in the ACU I can configure RAID 1+0 - but the resulting disk space cannot be a RAID 10 array. The RAID 10 result should be around 900 GB and it is 1.25 TB (Stripe). I wonder why the ACU does not give me the selection RAID 10 - I know ACU from other ProLiant machines, so I am shure that the selection 1+0 is not right for RAID 10. Something must be wrong.

Thanks a lot, Sascha

Hello Sascha,

RAID 10 _is_ RAID 1+0. Can you provide a screenshot? Did you create an array only with the six 250 GB disks?

Patrick

Hi Sascha,

Snapshot would definitely be helpful.
In RAID 1+0/RAID 10 the logical drive should be half the total capacity

Re: Smart Array Contr. 200i -> ACU - RAID 10 does not appear

Hello, yes that is it, I make a screenshot this morning and send upload it. The total capacity with the six 250GB disks is 1250GB with one HotSpare -> RAID 10 should result between 800 to 900 GB. That is what I meen it cannot be a RAID 10 - StripeSet (RAID 0) would have this capacity - RAID 1 (mirror) is not what we want.
Many thanks, Sascha

ok,
I'll wait for the snapshot of ACU

Re: Smart Array Contr. 200i -> ACU - RAID 10 does not appear

Hello Sascha,

if you designate one of the six disks as a hot-spare, RAID 1+0 won't longer be possible due the odd number of disks. That would also describe why you see 1250 GB. With five disks only RAID 0 and 5 are possible, while RAID 0 will gave you 1250 GB of total space.

Skip the spare disks and try it again.
