Re: Smart Array Failure ML530

Am bidding on a replacement 5300 card, should I not win are all other smart array cards compatible? Anything I should look out for? I basically have 6 disks and I would like 2 arrays one with 2 disks and one with 4 different raid configurations on both

Re: Smart Array Failure ML530

If your ML530 is G1 (Generation 1, beige coloured),then, IIRC all controllers newer than 5300 (641, 642, 6402, 6404, all of them being 3.3v PCI-X cards) are not compatible with ML530 G1 5.0v PCI slots. So you need Smart Array 532, 5302, 5304 or 5312 controller.

Re: Smart Array Failure ML530

Smart Array 3200 or even 2DH will also work, but disk channel performance would suffer. SA-5302 and SA-5304 are the best options IMHO for your server.
