Smart Array P400 in ML310 G2?

Hello,

we're using an old ML310 G2 and plan to install Server 2008 on it. Since we could'nt find drivers for the built-in RAID-Controller Intel 82801FR we decide to buy another Controller.
We plan to buy a SmartArray P400 (405132-B21) /w 256Mb BBWC (381573-001). The Servers manual says that the PCIe x4 Slot also accept x8-card (at x4 speed).
Does the SmartArray controller work in combination with the original cable (SFF8484-SFF8484) and backplane (4-slot-cage hot plug)?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Gemini

Re: Smart Array P400 in ML310 G2?

Hi,

thanks for the link.
The P400 isn't listed but P600.
I think we'll give it a try and hope that backplane, cable and controller are compatible.
If anyone has practical experience with such combination i would be thankful for a statement.

Hi, P400 is not listed as supported, but as far as P600 is there, it should work ... connectors on P400 and P600 are the same and drivers also ... R.
