Smart Array controller cache battery "maintenance"?
I am sure many of you have numerous Proliant servers that have been running for years that have Smart Array controllers.. Should the cache battery options be changed at some point as a preventitive maintenance task ? I know the StorageWorks RA450 and RA/MA8000 do have time stamps visible for battery date.. How about the thousands on "little guys" ?

Re: Smart Array controller cache battery "maintenance"?
Batteries have a life span (according to Compaq/HP) of three (3) years. lol the life of the warranty no doubt.
Enjoy!

Re: Smart Array controller cache battery "maintenance"?
Here is a link to the 5300 controller docs: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/techpubs/user_reference_guides/135606-004_rev4_us.pdf
There is a passage stating the life cycle.
sorry for double post...
