Smart HBA H241 Change the block size for tape backup

Hi,

i use a H241 controller with a connected Library. The Backupsoftware is VEEM. The controller is built into a dl380 Gen9. The controller is in a ESXi 6.7 and connected in a Windows Server2016 via Passthrough. The Backup is working. But the Block size is set to 64K. Is there a way to change the Block size to 512K?

Thanks
Markus

Hello Markus,

The HBA H241 does not offer any acceleration or support cache modules.

If you have a SAS library and your SAS controller run with 0 memory, a blocksize greater 64K will not be possible.
For block sizes larger than 64KB you need to have cached version of HBA.

Re: Smart HBA H241 Change the block size for tape backup

Hi @I_AN ,

thanks for the helpful answer. I changed the controller now to a P841 with 4GB cache. The Backup is working. But i still can not change the Block size. I run the controller in HBA-Mode and in RAID-Mode. No difference. Is there a tool or a cli command to change the blocksize.

I did not find a way in the Smart Storage Administrator.

Thanks
Markus
