Smart Start 7 any problems?

I loaded Smart start 7.0 on 2 new Dl380G3 servers and we have are now seeing the Perflib errors in the eventlog on the Windows 2000 server again. Any else have this problem I thought this was something that was going to be fixed in the new version. Anyone else seeing any other errors with this new versions of smart start?

Re: Smart Start 7 any problems?

Hello Andrew,
Please try the following:

Move the OS information sub agent from active to inactive using the management

agent control panel utility. This will prevent the OS information agent from

querying the performance counters.

OR

Disable the performance counters associated with the particular service within the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services \******\Performance

Create a new DWORD value for Disable performance counters or if one exists change the value data

to "1" which disables the counter.

Please also refer to the following perflib related knowledge base article:

Re: Smart Start 7 any problems?

I looked in the HP Management agents for servers in the control pannel and I do not see the OS option you talk about. I do see options like, system information, performance monitor, and host information among other one is that the right name? Also if I disable this agent will not be able to monitor any options with insight manager? Andrew

Re: Smart Start 7 any problems?

Hey Andrew,

Here's the solution:
you can try to stop the perflib monitors and then restart them.
Or ( which is the better solution) install the windows 2000 SP3 or higher, because i think you have SP2, this is a common problem with SP2.
cheers,
