Smart Start 8.30 (or later) 64-bit DVD-ROM

Where can I get this DVD?

And also I am going to try to install Windows 2008 R@ on a HP ProLiant DL360 Generation 4 from the Microsoft Media. Any tips or can you point me to the instructions? I assume I will have to use some sort of external DVD player since that model did not come with one. Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Hello,

8.30 is here:

You might be able to put the smartstart on a USB and boot from that.

2008 R2 may not be supported on the DL360 G4, see

Re: Smart Start 8.30 (or later) 64-bit DVD-ROM

Hi,

If I remember correctly, Dl360 g4 does not support Windows 2008 R2 (As per HP), but I have seen people installed it.

The supported OS by HP:

┬╗     Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Essential Business
┬╗     Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Small Business
┬╗     Microsoft Windows Server 2008 W32
┬╗     Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64

HP SmartStart 8.3 does not give Windows 2008 R2 as an option when you install OS (As per my understanding). HP SmartStart 8.3 is the latest available for this server. However, HP has version 8.7 version SmartStart Cds which is available for newer generation Servers (Example: Dl380 g7) and it gives Windows 2008 R2 as an option to install OS.

You can transfer the SmartStart 8.3 to a USB and boot from it: Please check below said linjk

Transfer HP Firmware DVD, SmartStart CD and Easy Setup CD to a bootable USB

To install Windows 2008 R2, you may refer:

Guide: Installing Windows OS using HP SmartStart CD

I hope it helps
